Robert Anthony “Tony” Carroll, 74, of Houston died on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in New York City of a heart attack. He is survived by his husband, Bruce Smith.

Tony, along with Bruce, was a pillar of the Houston community and a tireless advocate for numerous LGBT causes throughout the years. Most recently, Tony helped form Homeless Gay Kids – Houston to provide much needed services to Homeless LGBT youth.

The Montrose Management District featured an article about Tony that was recently reprinted by the “Houston Chronicle” spotlighting Tony’s life and contributions. You can read the original article here.

Tony’s life and legacy were celebrated at a memorial service on Saturday, January 23 and can be seen on the video here.

In his typically generous fashion, Bruce requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, please contribute in Tony Carroll’s name to Homeless Gay Kids-Houston. Memorial donations can be made in Tony’s name by clicking the Donate button below.

We extend our sincere condolences to Tony’s many friends, to his family and to his beloved husband of over twenty years, our friend and fellow Board Member, Bruce Smith
